Colchester Restricted Tournament 2015

After the positive feedback from last year's event we will run a tournament specifically for players from the Colchester area.

Singles, doubles and mixed doubles events will be offered. Entries will be graded so matches are competitive and we will use a format to ensure everyone gets to play at least 3 matches in each event.

Date: Sunday 18th October
Venue: Highwoods Sports Centre, Brinkley Lane, Colchester (The Gilberd School)
Times: each event should take about 3 hours, start times will be published after entries close

Essex O45 Retain National Title

Essex O45s team retained their national Inter County League title for the third year beating Nottingham and Lancashire in the finals weekend.

The O50 team lost in the final against Yorkshire unluckily having to concede three rubbers due to injury.

The O40 team narrowly lost (7-5) in the semi-final to a strong Yorkshire team and defeated Leicester on Sunday to come third overall.

Federation Meetings

The Annual General meeting will be held at Colchester & East Essex Cricket Club on Tuesday June 23rd starting at 8pm. If any member clubs have items for the agenda they should advise Louise Walsh or Simon Gilhooly before 15th June.

The Fixtures meeting will be August 25th also at the cricket club starting 8pm.

Colchester Open (part 2)

The Mixed Open and veterans events in this season's Colchester Open will be played at the University of Essex on Sunday 31st May.

Colchester Winners in York

Federation players Roger Baldwin and Simon Gilhooly both won singles titles at the York Gold Masters tournament last weekend. Roger won the O70 men's singles and Simon in the O45 category.

Colchester Open 2015

Entries are now invited for the 2015 Colchester Open.

The Singles and Level Doubles events will be played on Saturday 28th March at University of Essex.

The Mixed and Veterans events will be scheduled for a different weekend towards the end of the season.

Colchester Junior Level 1 Tournament

The timing for the Colchester Level 1 at Leisure World this Sunday, 1st March will be as follows;

Y8/9 and Y10/11 events start 10am

Y4/5 and Y6/7 events start 1:30pm

KO Cup Semi Finals

This year's handicap knock out cup has reached the semi-final stage with Mary Mag due to play Invicta and Monkwick up against Garrison.

Masters Inter County Challenge

Essex had a great weekend in the Masters Inter County Challenge.

The O40, O50, O60 and O65 teams all won their respective competition, the O40 in the Premier Division.

O45 team were unlucky to lose out by the odd game to come second.

UPDATE: controversially the O50 winners have been changed due to a misunderstanding of the rules in the event of a tie and Surrey are now the official champions.

The date for the tournament has been changed to Sunday 1st March.
